In a newly-launched campaign for the progressive group MoveOn.org, actresses Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria and Kerry Washington warned female voters why Mitt Romney’s policies may be bad for their health.

In the ad, the celebrities reminded voters of Team Romney’s promise to “overturn Roe v. Wade” and their support of conservative policies would “force women to undergo invasive ultrasounds.”

Oscar winner Rob Reiner, who directed the ad with his wife Michele, told msnbc’s Lawrence O’Donnell they felt it was “critical” to step in given the limited coverage on women’s reproductive rights in the first two presidential debates and the tightening poll numbers.

"Obama had such strength amongst women, and then we saw that strength starting to erode,” Reiner said on The Last Word. "We felt that this was an issue that needed to be talked about."

A new USA Today/Gallup pollshows Mitt Romney closing the gap among likely female voters. Reiner said the war on women is one issue “Republicans could not dance around.” Voters have "a clear distinction between what the Republican party stands for and what the Democrats stand for."

According to Reiner, the ad is specifically “targeted for women” and will air nationally during shows geared towards them.

Reiner and O’Donnell agreed on the number one reason to vote in the presidential election: the president nominates Supreme Court justices.

The Obama campaign posted their own ad on Friday suggesting women’s access to birth control might be in jeopardy under a Romney administration.
