Check out photos from Hurricane Sandy as it churned up eastern seaboard. The storm brought a dangerous mix of high winds, rising tides, soaking rain and even snow in areas, shutting down mass transit and schools. Air travel was brought to a halt in the northeast with more than 7,000 flights grounded. Sandy gained speed and power through the day, knocking out electricity to more than one million people. It’s estimated to upend life for tens of millions more as it continues to develop throughout the night.
