With just one week to go before the election, and Hurricane Sandy playing a potential role, FEMA and the White House are receiving strong praise for their initial handling of Hurricane Sandy.
Today on The Daily Rundown, House Homeland Security Committee Chair Peter King (R-NY) praised the recovery efforts, saying there is “superb” coordination at federal, state, and local levels.
Mitt Romney supporter Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) also spoke glowingly of the White House and the Federal Emergency Management Administration in storm-devastated New Jersey.
“The president’s been great,” said Christie. “I spoke to him three times yesterday. He called me for the last time at midnight last night, he asked me what I needed—I said if you could expedite the major disaster declaration without all the normal FEMA mumbo jumbo. He got right on it. I got a call from FEMA at 2 a.m. The president has been all over this, and he deserves great credit.”
