President Obama is set to talk about the looming 'fiscal cliff' today, and he hopes his election victory this week will give him the upper hand in negotiations with Republicans. Will they meet him halfway, or continue to demand their way or the highway, even in defeat? House Speaker John Boehner is already sounding conciliatory: in an interview, he said he won't try to repeal Obamacare, calling it "the law of the land". But can Boehner corral the more rabid elements of his party? We'll see.

Paul Krugman says Obama shouldn't be looking to make a deal with Republicans, saying he should stand firm in the face of a party that's looking to blackmail the country's economic well-being.

Florida is still counting its votes, but unlike 2000, the future of the Republic doesn't hang in the balance. And Republicans concede that it looks like President Obama's heading to victory there, too, which would give him a whopping 332 electoral votes. We should have a final answer today.

Nate Silver writes that the 2012 election is evidence that Republicans will be at a severe Electoral College disadvantage for the next few elections.

It looks like same-sex marriage is headed to victory in Washington state, too, after opponents concede.

Dispatch from Fantasy Land: Karl Rove says President Obama won re-election by "suppressing the vote".

Finally, can actress Ashley Judd defeat Mitch McConnell for Senate in 2014? She may be the Democrats' best hope.
