Mitch McConnell is the Senate’s biggest loser.
The Senate Minority Leader has the lowest job approval rating among 90 members of the Senate, according to a new survey by Public Policy Polling.
The Kentucky Republican has just a meager 37% approval rating and a 55% disapproval rating among voters in his state.
PPP said McConnell had the worst numbers compared to his peers, taking the Hall of Shame title from Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb.
Among Republicans, McConnell had a 59% approval rating, compared to 33% among independents and 23% among Democrats.
It isn’t all terrible news for McConnell, who’s up for reelection in 2014.
The survey showed the fifth-term senator would narrowly defeat actress Ashley Judd, who is reportedly considering running for McConnell’s post, 47% to 43%.
Reelection is clearly in the front of McConnell’s mind. According to the Courier-Journal, the GOPer recently sent an email to potential campaign supporters saying “As I lead the fight against his dangerous debt scheme, Barack Obama has placed a huge target squarely on my back. As I fight for you, I need your generous support to fight off his attacks."
