Liberalism is back! President Obama's Inaugural address revealed a liberal vision -- a full-throated defense of progressive policy. And, perhaps just as importantly, the speech offered a glimpse of an unapologetic leader who is less willing to begin negotiations with Republicans by starting in the center. Will the president push hard for a progressive agenda in his second term, now that he's no longer has to worry about re-election? And will he be so easy to give in to Republicans? Those are the biggest questions at the start of President Obama's second term.

Yesterday's Inaugural wasn't just a celebration of a president, but a celebration of cultural diversity, and the groups that for so long were left on the sidelines of American politics.

And Republicans want to make sure no future Democrat enjoys the kind of day President Obama had yesterday, with a concerted effort across several states to change the way electoral votes are assigned. The GOP couldn't prevent Obama's re-election by shortening voting hours, so they're planning on changing the rules.

The Senate is back in session today, and among the first orders of business -- how to fix the filibuster to prevent the inaction that has paralyzed the upper chamber.
