Following his fifth State of the Union address, President Obama heads to North Carolina today to kick off a campaign-style push to trumpet his agenda. On Tuesday evening, the President unveiled bold initiatives that included quintessential tenets of democratic and liberal policy, as well as a message for congress to move forward on his agenda. The speech featured themes and proposals that champion the middle class and economic growth, highlighted by plans to address climate change, to raise to the minimum wage, and an emotional plea to pass gun reform legislation. The President's speech was followed by the Republican response, given by Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul's Tea Party response. Many on the left panned Rubio's remarks , which focused on traditional conservative values, and the speech was overshadowed by his move to grab a drink a water. We’ll get analysis on all the addresses and bring you the President's live remarks when we see you live from D.C. at noon ET on msnbc.
