NBC's Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell was left speechless in February 2012 when a major donor to GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum offered a suggestion for those who might not wind up with birth control coverage: Just try aspirin.
In addressing why the insurance mandate covering contraception might not be necessary while appearing on Andrea Mitchell Reports, Friess shocked--and confused--more than Mitchell.
“This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it’s so… inexpensive,” Friess told Mitchell. “Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn’t that costly.”
Say what...?
Left unexplained is whether Foster Friess's comments were more or less costly to the Santorum campaign than the $2 million dollars he donated.
