Democrats, you're up! A day after House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) revealed his budget plan, Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-WA) is expected to formally release her version. Early indications are that Murray's proposal will portray a vastly different vision than Ryan's when it comes to fiscal reform. While Ryan's proposal seeks to find so-called savings by rolling back the Obama agenda, the upper chamber plan reportedly raises nearly $1 trillion in new taxes, adds new stimulus and avoids projecting a date for balancing the budget. As the ideological divide continues in Congress, President Obama is seeking to narrow it by scheduling a series of meetings with both parties on Capitol Hill. So far reaction to the President's outreach has been mixed, and there has even been some gripping from within the White House. But with his poll numbers declining and the nation's fiscal health in flux, he can little afford to let partisan politics decide matters. And while both parties present their budget priorities, President Obama has yet to unveil his own. On Tuesday, the White House said the Obama plan roll out will come the week of April 8th, two months later than expected. In the meantime, the President will have to work with his friends and foes on the Hill if he wants to get anything done.
