Thousands of runners at the London Marathon Sunday observed a 30-second moment of silence in honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Runners also wore black ribbons on their shirts in solidarity with Boston.
Event planners said that this year's London Marathon included 40% more police officers than last year. Officials expected half a million spectators to cheer runners along the route and had asked fans to keep their belongings with them at all times, the BBC reported.
