Don't expect to see longtime New York Congressman Charles Rangel campaigning for fellow Democrat Anthony Weiner and his run for New York City mayor anytime soon.

"I don't think he's going to have a serious impact on the outcome of the mayor's race," Rangel told Jansing & Co.

When asked whether he would endorse Weiner, who resigned in disgrace after a 2011 sexting scandal, Rangel said "only to the extent that only in America can we do these types of things. [Rep. Mark] Sanford did it in [South] Carolina and there goes Anthony Weiner."

Weiner made his first campaign appearance Thursday morning, meeting with New Yorkers at a subway stop, about a block away from Rangel's Harlem office.
