Just a week after announcing his run, a new poll finds Anthony Weiner making significant gains in New York City's mayoral race.
The former U.S. Congressman is still trailing City Council Speaker Christine Quinn in a new Marist poll but he's cut her lead to within five points—a four point jump since April.
Weiner resigned from Congress after a sexting scandal two years ago. He announced his candidacy last week and some feel he has a real chance of winning.
"I'm not predicting a Weiner victory but I think it's possible," said Blake Zeff, politics editor for Salon.com. "His strengths are more important than people realize and his challenges aren't as insurmountable as some would think. He has a lot of charisma and a real zest for campaigning."
