One of the biggest parts of a president’s legacy is the judges that he or she appoints to the bench. The selection of an individual to sit on the Supreme Court or any federal bench becomes an indelible mark of that president and what that presidency stood for and tried to achieve. President Obama has already had success in appointing two justices to our highest court and many others to our lower federal courts but now reports are that he is planning on nominating, simultaneously three judges to the D.C Court of Appeals. And Democrats may push for the “nuclear option” in order to get them appointed.

Next weekend President Obama will be meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping for a weekend summit in California. During the two-day retreat the world leaders are expected to focus on a range of political issues as well as their personal relationship. This will be the first meeting between President Obama and President Jinping since he took over as China’s president. Our show will focus on the necessary partnership between the U.S. and China in light of China’s recent move to purchase Smithfield Foods Inc. the largest producer of pork in the U.S. If the deal goes through, the purchase will also be the largest acquisition of an American company by the Chinese.

A few weeks ago our show talked about the fast food strikes occurring across the U.S.. This week we will bring you to Bentonville, Arkansas, home to Wal-Mart headquarters where Wal-Mart workers plan to meet and protest during the company’s annual shareholder meeting this Friday. The protesters are getting there via the “Ride for Respect” caravan that is criss-crossing 30 cities before reaching Bentonville where they will protest low wages and the disposal of hazardous waste in California and Missouri.

Make sure you stay tuned for another installment of the “#nerdland Concert Series” as we welcome the cast of Broadway’s Motown to the set to talk about the history of the iconic music genre and preform some of the show’s hit tunes.
