Vice President Joe Biden will headline the Virginia Democratic Party’s Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on June 29. Ashley Bauman, press secretary for the Virginia Democratic Party, confirmed the vice president's appearance at the annual Democratic fund-raising dinner to Up with Steve Kornacki on Saturday.

This will be the third Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Vice President Biden has spoken at this spring. Last month he addressed the South Carolina Democratic Party’s gathering and in April he spoke at the Michigan Democratic Party’s J-J dinner.

Critics of the Jefferson-Jackson dinners have suggested that Democrats should no longer name their major fundraising celebrations after Andrew Jackson, a president who, as Salon’s Steven Yoder recently wrote, may have been “the most systematic violator of human rights for America’s nonwhites.”

Up with Steve Kornacki will discuss the subject with National Urban League President Marc Morial, Mississippi Democratic Party Chairman Rickey Cole and others on Sunday’s show.
