A Florida jury's not-guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman trial triggered emotionally fraught reactions across the country over the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman, 29, had pleaded not guilty and said he was acting in self-defense when he shot the unarmed Martin in the chest during an altercation in a gated community of Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26, 2012.

In the weeks that it took following the shooting for Zimmerman to be charged, a massive outpouring of solidarity in support of Martin surged across the country. Those crowds rose again on Saturday and Sunday, from New York to Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., to Atlanta, and back to Sanford, where it all began.
