A 13-member court-martial panel has sentenced Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan to death.

After about two hours of deliberations on Wednesday afternoon, the panel made its unanimous decision in addition to stripping Hasan of his military pay and dismissing him from the Army.

The Nov. 5, 2009, massacre carried out by Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, left 13 people dead and 32 wounded. The shooting took place at an Army medical readiness center.

According to NBC News, Hasan, 42, will be taken to the maximum security U.S. military prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., where he’ll be placed on death row and await lethal injection.

The same jury convicted Hasan last week on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.

Hasan represented himself throughout the case.
