Within minutes of shots being fired Monday at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., several different law enforcement agencies immediately went into action to prevent further loss of lives.
City police and fire fighters partnered with federal officers from multiple agencies to stop the shooter, provide emergency medical assistance to victims and rescue survivors amid one of the country’s deadliest shooting rampages in the last decade.
D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray told Chuck Todd on Tuesday’s The Daily Rundown, “This was a wonderful example, yesterday, of those law enforcement agencies working effectively together to stem what otherwise could have been a more horrific tragedy.”
The mayor stressed that technological improvements over the years have helped emergency efforts.
“With the increased communication capacity with the digital world we live in, we’ve been able to really increase the partnership efforts among the various law enforcement agencies,” he said.
