According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, milk prices throughout the Northeast are 19 percent higher than two years ago with the average price of a gallon of milk now at $4. The Milk from the Heart program gives individuals in need two free quarts of milk and hands out about 14,000 quarts a month.
